HANDBALL NEWS: Local handballer Sontae Jackson won the U13 singles Leinster handball final held on Friday 26th in Tinryland where she overcame Carlow’s Katie Deane in the final. On the previous Sunday Sontae defeated Roisin Fitzpatrick of Laois in the Leinster semi-final that was held in Windgap.

GIVE RESPECT GET RESPECT: Amongst the new signage erected in the GAA Club recently is the new Give Respect, Get Respect Club crested Notice on the way into the dressing rooms. The code which can be modified to cover any walk of life invites: Players to Respect your opponent, play by the rules, accept the decisions of officials and to be a Role Model. Club and County to Accept responsibility to ensure that Players, Coaches, Spectators & Referees “Give Respect - Get Respect” from each other. Parents, Guardians and Supporters to Show approval for how the game is played and do not criticise officials or harass your own team or the opposition. Coaches to Lead by example and treat everybody equally regardless of ability. Referees to apply the rules of the game impartially and gain the respect of all players, officials and spectators. Also erected was information signage on the whereabouts of the local defibrillators at the local National School and the Parochial House.
HARRIERS MEET: Kilmoganny Harriers held their second meet of the season in Tullahought on Sunday when poor ground conditions restricted the normal free flowing cross country activities.
CAMOGIE REGISTRATION: Registration for Members of Windgap Camogie Club continues in St. Leonards Hall Dunnamaggin on Sunday 13th March after 11am Mass. All New Members Welcome.
WEATHER STOPS PLAY: On Saturday Windgap Junior hurlers Leinster Club Hurling League game against Ardclough was postponed owing to the on-going poor weather conditions at both venues. The re-fixture may replace a planned challenge game on the way to the Allianz National Hurling League tie in Cork on Saturday.
BRIDGE RESULTS: Winners at the Killamery Bridge Club game in the Olde House were 1st. Catherine Burke and Helen Lanigan. Best Gross. Stella Tenneyson and Rita Townsend. 2nd. Kitty Meagher and Rita Houlihan. 3rd Margaret Comerford and Pat Arrigan.
CARD DRIVE: The next and final game of the season takes place on Friday 18th March.
DEVELOPMENT NEWS: At a meeting of Windgap Community Development the roll out of plans for the upgrading of the Community Centre was progressed. In addition plans were made for a major social and fundraising event later I the year. With the long evening and dry weather approaching the group learned of the kind donation of a benefactor who is providing the funding for the purchase of Tennis net for the local court.
LOTTO RESULTS: The numbers drawn this week were 04, 13, 14, 15 and Bonus number 12. Next week’s prize fund is €8,100. Tickets at €2 are available from any member of the Hurling Club.
