CLARE WINS BRONZE: At the European Women's Boxing Championships in Bucharest on Monday Clare Grace with a 5-3 win became only the second Irish woman to win a European medal. Clares win ensured her a bronze medal and saw her through to the semi finals of her 69kg weight division after defeating Turkish opponent Kara Guluzar in her last eight bout. Over the four two minute rounds Clare boxing out of the Windgap Red corner continually took the contest to her opponent and finished with a strong flurry in the final two rounds to see her through. The Callan and DCU boxer will be seeking a place in the final on Wednesday when she boxes in semi-final. Part of the Irish Elite squad Clare's preparations were carried out in conjunction with her exams in DCU with only three hours between her final exam and joining the departing team.
IRISH TEAM: In Romania Ireland are represented by a five-strong squad sponsored by Quick Park of Dublin Airport and under team manager Fiona Hennigan and coaches Pete Taylor, Zuar Antia, Gerry Storey. The side is Olympic champion Katie Taylor, Ceire Smith, Michaela Walsh, Joanna Lambe and our own Clare Grace. The team are competing in the first AIBA ranking tournament for Elite European female boxers since the Olympics in London in 2012. The finals are also a qualifier for the inaugural 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. In all Thirty one nations, represented by 172 boxers, are will competing in the Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest. At home Clare's progress is keenly followed on twitter by her family and friends and by her trainer Jimmy Walsh and the members of her home town club in Callan.
CONFIRMATION: On a fine midsummers morning Bishop Seamus Freeman imparted the sacrament of confirmation to twenty two 5th and 6th class children from St Nicholas School at mass in St Nicholas Church on Sunday. 
BRIDGE RESULTS: Winners at the Killamery Bridge Club Card Game held in The Olde House in Killamery were 1st Peggy Vaughan, Rita Houlihan. Best Gross: Pat Arrigan, Margaret Comerford. 2nd. Elizabeth Lanigan, Sarah Crowley. 3rd. Finoula Lanigan, Helen Lanigan. 4th. Agnes Foley, Moira Hickey.
CAMOGIE NEWS: The Camogie Club are running a Fund Raising Draw with Cash, Hampers and Dinner Vouchers. Tickets costing €5 are available from any member or player. 
CLUB NEWS: Windgap went down to Carlow's Naomh Bríd who ran in three goals in the quarter final of the Paddy Cahill Cup in Leighlinbridge on Friday evening. The loss was tempered when the Junior "B" side had a good win over the Rower Inistioge on the following evening. The side play host to neighbours Piltown on Friday evening next. In the under fourteen league the side had a nice win over Barrow Rangers before travelling to play Cloneen where they went down by a single point.
LOTTO: Numbers 7, 9, 19, 26 and bonus number 12 brought a match three cheque to PJ Egan. Next weeks prizefund is €9,400
HURLERS CO-OP DRAW: Supporters from near and far can support Windgap GAA Club by purchasing tickets from the local committee members or players or by going online, by visiting kilkennygaa.ie and select Windgap GAA Club whilst making a purchase. The Prize fund of €110,000 includes five cars.
SCRAP COLLECTION: If you want to get some scrap removed please give any Hurling Club committee member, player or collection cordinators PJ Egan, PJ Barron or Simon Brophy a call.
CLOTHES COLLECTION: A clothes collection fund raiser is being organised by the Camogie Club on Saturday 7th June at 9.30am. For further arrangements and details Contact Ann Foley, Kathleen Purcell, Mary Byrne, Elaine Purcell or any committee member.
