From Kilkenny people Dunamaggin notes with a special WIndgap interest this week.

KELLS SCOUTS - Beavers from the 6th Kilkenny Scouts, Kells camped overnight in Thomastown on Friday 24th May. Thirty- five Beavers went on the camp. On Friday evening after getting settled in everyone went on a hike and the Beavers got a chance to play in the local playground. This was followed by hot chocolate and a snack before bed. Following an early rise on Saturday morning the Beavers did some pioneering, played games and paid a final visit to the playground. A great time (if not much sleep) was had by all. Thanks to Thomastown Scout Group for the use of their hall.

Fourteen scouts and their leaders camped in Windgap from Friday 24th May to Sunday 26th. They set up camp on Friday evening. On Saturday morning they built a table, putting their Pioneering skills to the test. After this they went on a 35km cycle, as it was a gorgeous day. Their first stop was Knockroe, known locally as The Coshel, which is a Neolithic passage tomb. They then made their way to the Lingaun River where they rested for a while before setting off for Ahenny. They then had lunch and relaxed for a while before they headed to the Ahenny High Crosses. After that they made their way back to camp and cooked dinner. On Sunday, after a late rise, they cooked breakfast, packed up and tidied up the camp before heading home. Special thanks to Melanie and Seamus for the use of their facilities.
