What is the Community games ?
The Community Games is an independent voluntary organisation founded in 1967, which operates in local communities throughout the island of Ireland, providing a gateway to multiple sports and cultural competitions.
Where do we fit in ?
It is hoped that Community Games based in Windgap will be organised for the first time ever in 2015. It is envisaged that a very small number of sports will be included. It is too late for team events such as camogie and hurling, however it is planned to enter in many of the individual track and field events. A local track and field day will likely take place over the next month.
There are also lots of other individual events, such as swimming and handball and a huge list that can be viewed in the below link. The plan is that the structure in Windgap will act as a conduit for any parents who would like their kids to compete in any of these events. If we don't register our area, there is no access to these events at county level for local children.
This will only happen if there is enough interest and significant attendance on Wednesday.
