WINDGAP TULLAHOUGHT NOTES 11th Jan. 2016

CLUB AGM: The Annual General Meeting of Windgap GAA club takes place Friday week the 22nd January in the club rooms at 8pm. All nominations and proposals for officer’s etc. are to be returned to the Club Secretary Noel Power by Friday next 15th of January.

BRIDGE RESULTS: Winners at the Killamery Bridge Club game held in the Olde House recently were 1st. Rita Houlihan, Kitty Meagher. 2nd Catherine Burke, Helen Lanigan. 3rd. Sarah Crowley, Elizabeth Lanigan. Best Gross Moira Hickey, Peggy Vaughan.

HALL DEVELOPMENT: Windgap Community Development Proposals for the upgrading of the Parish Hall will be presented to the Windgap Parochial Finance Committee over the coming days. The feedback will then be taken by the delegation to a full meeting of the Development group and a public meeting. Formerly O’Sheas Hall and more recently the home of Tullahought Badminton Club and Windgap Youth Club, it also hosts indoor hurling over the winter months. Once the home of popular and well attended Dances, Ceillis, its recent dancing activities were Discos that were hosted by the top RTE DJ’s. Over the years its use as a community facility has decreased. The site is one of a large portfolio of Parish properties that includes churches, halls, graveyards, car parks, and league house, grotto and amenity areas.

CARD DRIVE: The next Hurling Club Card Drive will be held in Guinans on Friday evening at 9pm sharp and all are welcome.

POTTERY CLASSES: Camphill Kyle is running pottery evening classes for children and adults. The Adult class commence on Wednesday 20th of January, 7:30-9:30pm, running for 8 weeks and the cost is €100 (all materials included). Children’s classes (1st-6th class) start Thursday the 21st of January, 6pm-7pm, running for 5weeks, € 40 (all materials included).  For more information and booking contact Sonja on 086-3050428

HARRIERS MEET: Kilmoganny Harriers held their annual meeting Tullahought recently. This year it was held as a midweek event.

CAMOGIE: The local Camogie club used the holiday season when many club members were around home to hold a social evening in Powers of Tullahought recently. Part of the event was to make plans for the year ahead.

NEW TRAINER: Best wishes are extended to club player Alan Hearne has been appointed as the trainer of the junior hurling side for 2016. Alan replaces former player Pat Walsh who has been involved with training the team for many years. Both players are amongst the short list of All Ireland medal holders in the parish.

HEALTHY AND FIT 2016! ​10 days to go before we start our first Men's Running Group! This program commences Mon 11th January & will run for 4 weeks & 5 Monday nights. Meeting in Piltown GAA Complex. You will do two homework sessions within each week also. Our goal is to build up your running endurance to reach 5km!
