EASTER VARIETY SHOW: Windgap Tidy Towns in conjunction with Windgap Community Development presents a Variety Show of the best of local talent and their friends in a night of music, song and dance on this Friday 25th March in the Community Centre at 8pm. The event follows on and supports the on-going community development and village renewal works that included the provision of two loop walks, playground, amenity area, landscaping, wall building, upgrading footpaths, forge front restoration, spring clean ups, village maintenance, creamery restoration plans, upgrading of street lights, over flow car parking for the Church and landscaping and seeding of roadside margins.

DOCTOR AND POSTMAN: Bagpipes, banjos, local award winning 5th year students Albert Gere and Thomas Callaghan, John Ryan and his many musical and singing friends all join Wattie Dunphy on recitations and the local doctor Dr O’Dea and postman Noel Power on Friday night’s show where Noel Smith will be Master of Ceremonies.

PEGGYS GUITAR HEROES: Peggy's Guitar hero's will be one of the many groups that will take to the stage during next Fridays nights concert in Windgap Community Centre commencing at 8m.The group consists of Sontae Jackson, Nathania Jackson, Emer Barron, Eimear Smith, Ciara Smith, Victoria O Brien, Ava O Brien, Sarah Cullen, Ben Fitzpatrick, Sam Maloney, Leah Murray and Niamh Hogan. A great night of music, song and storytelling is guaranteed.

DEREK RYANS DEBUT: Looking back many years ago at what was probably the last concert in Windgap a young boy together with his dad Pat and brother Adrian performed on stage. Today he is one of Ireland’s biggest country stars and has a huge following. His name was Derek Ryan from Carlow. On Friday 25th March many more budding potential Derek Ryan's will showcase their talents and who knows what the future will hold for them. The show commences at eight with refreshments served during the interval.

EARLY BOOKING: Tickets for the event at €10 for adults and €5 for juveniles are available from Liz Jackson 087 9360941, Kate Moloney 087 2050029, John Ryan 087 6576045, Jimmy Walsh 0877875501, and Nicky Hawe 087 9728344.

LITTER PICKERS: Tullahought Tidy Towns litter pickers were out in force on Saturday last with a massive concentrated effort to clean up the local roads. Over twenty volunteers were engaged throughout the day in an operation which de-littered the two roads which run through the village the L5097 ad L5098 and also the other access road via the avenue. Also picked on the day was a section of the R697 from the Ball-alley in Baunreigh Slatequarries to Barnatrasna and the L1034 from Barnatrasna to Curragh. The committee would like to thank all the volunteers young and not so young who participated. We hope that visitors will see the pride of the community in the village and will work with us to keep the area free of litter.
LOTTO RESULTS: Numbers, 2, 12, 17, 25 and bonus number 21 saw Sharon Power and Richard McKenna Senior collect match three cheques recently. Next Week’s prize fund is €8,800

SPRING COLOUR: Fluttering and dancing in the breeze, hundreds of daffodils planted in Windgap and Tullahought villages by the respective Windgap and Tullahought Tidy Towns Groups are putting on a colourful show.
THIRD TIME LUCKY: The arrival of wild fowl at the lake on the wildlife area in Tullahought for the third time in six years has been warmly greeted. Having laid eggs on the initial visit the nest was disturbed, on the second occasion a dozen chicks were born and were to be seen swimming gaily around. Hopes are high that this will be third time lucky and a brood will be reared and mature over the summer months.

FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON: On Saturday Windgap Junior hurlers travelled to Ardclough to play the home side in the Leinster Club Hurling. The postponed tie replaced the planned challenge game in Killea on the way to the Allianz National Hurling League tie in Cork on Saturday. In the end the side ran out 3-14 to 0-9 winners.

SCHOOLS HURLING: In the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoileanna Roinn D Hurling League Windgap N.S. played their first round match against St. Patricks on Friday. After a slow start they won on a 5-6 to 2-4 scoreline. The next round takes place away to Kilkenny C.B.S. in their own grounds. The team is looked after by Simon Brophy, Jimmy Purcell and Tony Doyle.
