VARIETY SHOW: Windgap Community Development in conjunction with Windgap Tidy Towns presents the best of local talent and their friends in a night of music, song and dance on Friday 25th March in Windgap Community Centre. Tickets for the event are available on this Wednesday and cost €10 for adults and €5 for children.
CAMOGIE AGM: Windgap Camogie club held its Annual General Meeting on Friday 19th March in the G.A.A.Club rooms at 8pm. With a large crowd in attendance the club reflected on a very successful year. with the Under 14's winning the County Final and the minors getting to a county final. The Seniors made it to the County Semi Final and hope to go one step closer this year. The Chairperson thanked all who helped in any way to fund raise for the club and wished the club well in the year ahead. The following officers were elected for the 2016 season Chairperson Ann Foley Vice Chairperson Matt Doran Senior Secretary Kathleen Purcell and Juvenile secretary Mary Byrne Treasurer Martina Foley Registrar Elaine Purcell.
MASS TIME CHANGE: Sunday morning’s 10am Mass takes place at 10.30am on Sunday next in St. Nicholas Church Tullahought.
CAMOGIE REGISTRATION: Registration for all Members of Windgap Camogie Club will take place in the Community Centre in Tullahought on Sunday 6th March between 10am and 11am All New Members Welcome.
BRIDGE RESULTS: Winners at the Killamery Bridge Club game in the Olde House were 1st. Josie O’Gorman and Mary Lonergan. Best Gross. Lanigan and Sarah Crowley. 2nd. Houlihan and Kitty Meagher. 3rd Peggy Vaughan and Moira Hickey.
CLOSE CALL: On Saturday Windgap Junior hurlers travelled to Naas to play the home side in the Leinster Club Hurling League on Saturday last. After a close game they went down by 3-11 to 0-19. The side play Kildare’s Ardclough on Saturday 5th in Windgap and the following Saturday 19th against Carraig Riverstonwn from just outside Birr on the Offaly Tipperary border at the same venue.
CARD DRIVE: The winners at the Hurling Club progressive Card game in Guinans were sharing 1st prize with ten games were Tom and Mary O’Connor, John Kenny and Paddy Barron, Tom Egan and Jan Kennedy. The winners of the 2th game were Bridget and Joe with Mary Guinan, Eamon Doyle, Mattie Enright and Vincent Purcell. The next and final game of the season takes place on Friday 18th March.
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: A meeting of Windgap Community Development Group takes place on Wednesday evening in the Clubrooms at 8.30pm.
OUT AND ABOUT: Flights of long tailed tits were to be seen as they flew or almost hopped from bush to bush along the hedgerows in recent times. Following the prolonged wet spell the first of the seasons frog spawn appeared in the more tepid ponds of shallow water. Elsewhere a young vixen fox found its way to the shelter of a farmer’s shed where it lay down and passed away.
LOTTO RESULTS: The numbers drawn this week were 06, 09, 11, 15 and Bonus number 14. Next week’s prize fund is €7,750. Tickets at €2 are available from any member of the Hurling Club.
