Written by: Ciara Smith (5th class) and Niamh Doyle (6th class) On Saturday the 2nd March the pupils from 3rd – 6th classes went to The Hub for Peace Proms. Everyone got dropped off in the Hub at 4:30 for a practice before the real concert started at 7:00. There was a lot of preparation before hand. We had 8 songs to learn and 3 of them had dances. Mrs Malone was our instructor and inspiration on the journey to Peace Proms (thanks Kalle!). Sharon Tracy Dunne was the person who organized the whole thing. She sent all the e-mails to the students, parents, schools, teachers and musicians. Gearoid Grant was the conductor. His job is to bring everything together. He is one of the most famous conductors in Ireland. Emmanuel Lawlor was the presenter and he was also singing solo. Patricia Tracy was playing the violin and singing. There were people dancing too. All the performers had to wear a uniform of a white t-shirt and black pants. All of us, and the children from other schools, were singing with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland and some of the musicians were very young (and good!!). It is made up of people who started to learn an instrument and got really good at it. They are from all over Ireland. They had to go to Dundalk once a month to practice their songs with the other members of the CBOI. There are some people from Kilkenny in the orchestra. It was an exiting event for everyone. Our parents and friends came and watched. Everyone thought it was really good. We were there for nearly 5 hours and were exhausted going home! We all loved it! We hope we can do it again next year. More Pictures later ! A "Shave or Dye" event will take place in "The Auld House", Killamery on the evening of March 17th, 2013, St. Patricks Day.
