Windgap GAA Under 10 Boys Hurling Windgap GAA under 10 boys team played Erins Own of Castlecomer in a very evenly contested match in Windgap on Saturday morning last. Both teams played well during a fast paced hurling match which ended in a draw. This was followed by a 15 minute half of gaelic football during which Windgap slotted in three goals in a 5 minute spell to come out on top. Next they take on Galmoy in Galmoy on Saturday coming at 10.30am.

A good attendance is needed if this service is to be put into operation. Some members of the local farming community have generously agreed to rear calves on behalf of the school. If any other farmers have an interest in rearing a calf for the school, please contact us on one of the numbers below. Alternatively, you might like to donate some money directly to the school towards the purchase of a calf. For every €250 we raise we can buy a calf. If you know of any past pupils who are overseas or are living outside the parish who might like to support this venture, please let them know about it or give their contact details to a member of the Board of Management or Parent Association. But a special thank you from the supporters to the birthday boy Under 14/16 trainer Pat Foley who organised and drove the bus for the Windgap CC supporters.....and for taking all to McDonalds and the park..a birthday to remember, thanks Pat Windgap Parish were well represented at the Ossory Faithfest 2013 festival in St. Kierans College Kilkenny this weekend. On Saturday, two under 8 boys teams took part in the hurling blitz, while over the whole weekend, a stall exhibiting the parishes heritage was manned by parish volunteers. http://www.ossory.ie/2013/04/ossory-faith-fest-2013-celebrating-faith-in-ossory/ Windgaps under 10 boys took on Dicksboro in Windgap on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon last. The game started fast and furious with Windgap slotting in two early goals to shake the Dicksboro boys into action. Folowing this both teams swapped scores for the remainder of the half. The second half saw Dicksboro start a new team of 11 such is the strength of their panel at under 10 level. Their fresh legs made all the difference as they finished one goal ahead of Windgap at the final whistle. Windgap deserved alot of praise for how well they played particularly how well they fought for each other as a team. We are now looking forward to the visit of another senior club in Erins Own of Castlecomer who will again visit Windgap this Saturday coming at the earlier time of 10.30am. On a similar note our under 8 boys start their season this Saturday afternoon with a blitz in St. Kierans College in Kilkenny. The blitz runs from 2-5pm and will be refereed by Kilkenny senior hurling and camogie panel members. Windgap will take on the Shamrocks, the Rower and Bennetsbridge. Best wishes to them. Matthew O'Shea Windgap camogie club were represented on the All Ireland winning team today in Dungarvan. Catherine Foley, Micheala Kenneally and Eimear Moylan,together with selector Matt Doran are part of the 2013 All Ireland Minor Champions team! Kilkenny beat Cork today in the 1-12 Cork 0-6 in the Fraher field. Congratulations to all involved. |
