Here is a very old map of the area between Carrick and Callan. This is largely a road map of the area and has a focus on the main roads, however clearly shown is Garryricken and Ninemile house.
Why is Nine mile house called so ?
Because it is 9 Irish miles from Kells.
Keep in mind that the Irish mile would have been over 2000 meters in 1778 ! Today a mile is just 1609 meters
