Windgap’s Moo Crew - As work commences on the new extension at Scoil San Nioclás, your support is needed in an interesting fund-raising initiative.
A grant has been secured from the Department of Education and Skills for the building project, but there is still a large deficit. Members of the local farming community have generously agreed to rear calves on behalf of the school. If any other farmers have an interest in rearing a calf for the school, please contact us on one of the numbers provided below. Your support would be greatly appreciated. The cost of each calf has been estimated at €250. The difference between the purchase price and the selling price in one or two years’ time will provide funding towards the building project. As the farmers who participate in the scheme will be providing the feeding, we encourage others to participate in the purchase of the calves. As an added incentive the local Glanbia store have donated a ton of Gain calf food that will be raffled between the participating fundraisers. You might decide to purchase a full calf or join together with friends to buy a calf between you. Alternatively, you might like to donate some money directly to the school towards the purchase of a calf because for every €250 we raise we can buy a calf. If you know of any past pupils who are overseas or are living outside the parish who might like to support this venture, we ask you to let them know about it or give their contact details to any member of the Board of Management or Parent Association. The contact numbers to support the fundraising drive are: 648321 (School), 648097 & 087 9904554 (Ger Doyle)
