HURLING SHIELD WIN: Windgap under fourteen hurlers won the Shield in John Locke Park Callan on Saturday when they overcame O ‘Loughlins "C" in the final of the thirteen a side competition. Ahead 1-1 to 0-1 at the break following a Pat Grace goal both sides doubled their first half tally in a low scoring tie with Dylan Thomas getting the sides second goal. The victorious Windgap side was in goal Conor Foley, Luke Ward, Lorcan Wallace, Aidan Culleton, Sean Dunne, Jack Hayes, Pat Grace (1-0). Christopher McDonald (0-1), Robert Culleton, Shane Cullen (0-1), Mark Grace, Darragh Byrne, Dylan Thomas (1-0). Missing on boxing duty on the day was Patrick O’Callaghan. After the game team captain Pat Grace was presented with the Shield by Bord na nÓg representative Joe Pyke. The side’s mentors were Denis Foley, Michael Grace, Walter Purcell and Michael Cooke. The game was refereed by Martin Quilty.
