It was an early start for the the local swimmers in their inaugural Community Games outing at the Saturday morning at The Watershed for the Kilkenny Community Games Swimming Gala. The standard was very high but all participants rose to the challenge very well and represented WTC (Windgap Tullahought and Coolagh) excellently.
Medals were won by Ali Kennedy who won bronze for both the 50m U12 Girls Freestyle and 50m U12 Girls Breaststroke. Zac Kennedy came home with a silver for the 50m U14 Boys Freestyle and a gold in the 50m U14 Boys Breaststroke.
Sean Barron won silver in the 50m U14 Boys Breaststroke and a silver in the 50m U14 Boys Backstroke. Killian Doyle came home with a silver medal in the 50m U14 Boys Backstroke and a bronze in the 50m U14 Boys Breaststroke.
Well done to Emer Barron who represented WTC very well in both the Girls U12 50m Freestyle and Backstroke. Well done also to Laura Doyle in both the Girls U10 25m Freestyle and Backstroke. And finally well done also to Darragh Doyle who swam brilliantly in the U12 Boys Freestyle, Breaststroke and Backstroke.
And thank you to Aidan Doyle, Cathal Barron and Ona Kennedy who braved the early morning start to support their siblings!!
Zac Kennedy has now qualified to represent Kilkenny in the National Community Games Swimming Finals in August in the 50m U14 Breaststroke.
