FÉILE NEWS: For the first time in the history of the local handball four teams will represent Windgap Handball Club in the National Féile competition that takes place in Tipperary and Waterford on this Saturday 18th of June. The Club entrants consists of three boys teams and one girls team that play in Nenagh, Carrick on Suir,  An Rinn and Ballinahinch. They play in Divisions one, three and six respectively with the girls playing in Division two. Also representing Kilkenny is the sides sister Club Galmoy who they meet in Division one. The Galmoy side is led by Billy Drennan who lines out with the Galmoy Windgap under fourteen hurlers and who won the prestigious National Féile Hurling Skills title in Abbotstown on Saturday last. The remaining local clubs include debutants Glenmore, along with Kells, Clogh, Kilfane and Talbots Inch. The occasion matches the achievements of the 2007 Féile hosted in Kilkenny when the local Clubs had hurling, Camogie and Boys and Girls Handball teams entered, with the Hurling side going on to win the Hurling Title.

MEDAL PRESENTATION: Noel Hickey was the guest of honour and presented the medals to the Windgap Schools teams in the Hall on Friday evening. The event for the newly crowned Schools Champions and under elevens followed refreshments and a table quiz with Noel Smith as quizmaster. Amongst the highlights were the words of Noel on what it takes through the practice of the skills and the honing of a players first touch in the field and a home to get to wear the County Jersey and succeed. A special presentation was made to Simon Brophy by School Principal Margaret Lowry for his work with the school teams since 1989. Acting as the Hurling Teacher and the team driver for a generation the multi skilled Simon is the Fields caretaker and is one of the longest serving Coiste na nÓg delegates in the county. Names of the panel members presented with medals to follow.

COMMEMORATING 1916 The opening of Tullahoughts "garden of remembrance" will take place on Friday next, June 17th at 8pm. It will be followed by a short account of the area's involvement in the War of Independence. All are welcome.

FOOTBALL: Club member James Mackey was a member of the Kilkenny team that travelled to Sundon Park in Luton to play Hertfordshire on Saturday. A win saw the side qualify for the quarter final against Scotland in Glasgow on Sunday.

FUN RUN: The Hurling and Camogie Clubs 5KM Fun Run has been re-arranged for this Sun 19th June.

COMMUNITY ALERT The Community Alert Committee is reminding members on the text alert system that the ten euro annual subscription is now due for 2016. You can pay the subscription to any committee member. The committee would like to thank those who have already paid for 2016.
BRIDGE RESULTS: Winners at the weekly Killamery Bridge Club game played in the Olde House on Monday were; 1st Mary Joy and Kitty Meagher. Best Gross: Elizabeth Murray and Catherine Burke. 2nd: Moira Hickey and Finoula Walsh. 3rd: Helen Lanigan and Rita Townsend.

TIDY TOWNS; Work continued with weeding and planting at the Grotto in Windgap. Other plans include the restoration of one of the iconic features in the heart of the village. A maintenance Grant has been received from Kilkenny County Council for the Playground Area whilst the local committee are waiting start date for the work on the upgrading of the Creamery Store frontage

LOTTO: Numbers 4, 15, 23, 28 and bonus number 16. Next week’s prize fund is €6,350. Tickets at €2 are available from any club member.

CAMOGIE NEWS: The Club are holding their clothes collection on Saturday the 2nd July in the club rooms so please get collecting and leave any bags of clothes, bed linen, curtains, belts, bags and shoes, in the club rooms any evening when training is on.
The under twelve’s played their blitz in Johnstown on Saturday last they played three matches won two and drew one   the teams they played were St Anne's and Ballyragget. The Team was Ali Kennedy, Emer Barron, Emer Smith, Victoria O'Brien, Sarah O'Shea, Nathania Jackson, Sara Gleeson, Orlaith O'Shea, Sarah Culleton, Sarah McCoy, Lauren Walsh and Denise Foley. Congratulations to you all and to the Parents for driving. Also well done to their Trainers Mick O'Shea Dave Jackson and Michelle O'Brien. Windgap Camogie Club and G.A.A. Club are holding a 5k fun run on Sunday 19th July all support welcome. In Piltown on Sunday evening the Senior side went down to neighbours Piltown in a challenge game.
